Subject: Mosaic 2.0a4 and win32s
I have just installed mosaic 2.0alpha4 together with the win32s distribution
that was with it - this overwrote the (earlier and less complete) win32s that
came with MathCAD.
If I run mosaic and click on a menu title the whole mosaic application just
disappears but if I run MathCAD first it is OK. I have completely removed the
win32s directory that MathCAD installed and reinstalled from scratch but with
no change. I am somewhat baffled!
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards
Laurie Cuthbert

In the menu Dialer, Options, you have various choices as to when Trumpet
Winsock loads and unloads ...

Subject: How to use SLIP? (connect PC486 to SPARC10 through MODEM???)
Is anybody there in this newsgroup using or have
used SLIP with Xappeal or Micro X-DOS? I mean
to use such a package to connect a 486 PC to
a SPARC10 unix machine through a MODEM remotely???
In this way, I could
turn my PC into a X terminal to run UNIX apps.
- most important thing is to run unix graphics
apps. under SunOS4.1.3 & OpenWin3.0 (Sincee
I could connect my PC - using a modem -
to that SPARC10 machine too
through a modem server - but in that way, I
can't run any graphics apps. at all.)
I got quite a few answers from other newsgroups
and they suggest I use Micro X-DOS or Xappeal -
I found both support SLIP connection (I.e. using
MODEM), but there is no specific details found
in both manuals about how to use them (I mean
How to make a connection through a MODEM - they
got "slipper" included though).
If some nice soul there could send me a bit
detailed info. on how to do that, I would really
appreciate it all from my heart!
If I have got this jungle through, I would post
the details in this newsgroup.
Thanks a lot. - I mould be even nicer to send
any info. to my E-Mail: fan@arc.ab.ca
Thanks again.

Subject: TCPMAN in Windows Question
This is probably a stupid question but....
I have installed TCPMAN through Trumpet Winsock in Windows 3.1.
I would like TCPMAN to start when Gopher, and Mosaic, Eudora, and WinQVT/Net
and then automatically exit after the application is quit.
I do not know how to do this. I would really appreciate any help via this
posting or e-mail.
Also...
I see when trying to setup Eudora it complains about not having
pctcpapi.dll. Does anyone know where I can get this?
Thanks again.

Subject: Speed problems Trumpet/SLIP/WFW
I am currently running Trumpet Winsock, SLIP and WFW 3.11. My hardware
is 386sx 16MHz, 4Mb, and a USRobotics V.32 terbo modem.
When using terminal software/VT220 over phone lines I get acceptable
performance (1100cps at 14400), but using my slip is just s l o w (100cps).
I have tried everything. Modem connects OK in 21600 both directions,
RS-232 is of the new, fast type.
Does anyone use a similar configuration?
Tips?
- Morten

This is the way the the Trumpet Winsock works. Any time that you start a
Winsock compliant app, the TCP Manager starts the Winsock. A few seconds
after you quit the app, the Winsock will close.

Subject: Sun RPC on PC...
I want to connect a workstation to PC's using Sun RPC.
Is there any libraries or packages that enables the programmer to use
Sun RPC on PC? Does it use winsock? Does it supports high level RPC?
Thanks in advance.

Subject: Trumpet Winsock Login.cmd example
Several people have been posting regarding problems creating and
getting a login.cmd create for use with the Trumpet Winsock dialer.
We have a different SLIP server at cornell, so this will need some
changes to reflect responses from your particular server, but i figured
i would post it with some comments. Hope it helps:
